With the release of ¡®Friends Don't Let Friends Arrest Kim Young Hwan!', Daily NK celebrates its 30th fabulous cartoon by Gregory Pence. A creative and talented cartoonist, Pence works from his home in the United States to throw fresh light on political, economic and human rights problems in Northeast Asia.

Unfortunately, the ongoing imprisonment of extreme leftist-turned-North Korea human rights activist Kim Young Hwan means that there is not too much else to celebrate. The international community still doesn¡¯t know why Kim and three other South Korean activists are being detained by the Liaoning branch of the Ministry of State Security, and the Chinese authorities are certainly not saying. In addition, there are widespread concerns that the Chinese authorities were put up to the arrests by the angry tiger on the other side of the Yalu River¡¦
