Yesterday, the activities of the ¡®Panel of Experts¡¯ operating under the UN Security Council-mandated North Korea Sanctions Committee were extended for another year. Members of the UN Security Council unanimously agreed the extension, which runs until June 12th, 2013.
Formed in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1874 of 2009, the panel consists of representatives of the five permanent members of the Security Council plus South Korea and Japan (¡°P5+2¡±). It was originally formed for the one-year term to June 12th 2010 but has since been extended twice.
